Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (May 6, 2016)

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  Here is this week's news that caught our eyes ...

________

Bulleit - Strengthens its range
The Bulleit bourbon range has had a new limited edition expression added by owners Diageo.  The Bulleit Barrel Strength has the same mash bill as the regular expression of Bulleit but will be bottled at 60% ABV.  It is non-chill filtered and has been released following consumer trials at whisky shows and bars over the last year or so.  There will be just 5,000 cases (30,000 bottles) of the Barrel Strength initially and these will be available in selected retailers in the USA.  There will be two bottles sizes - 375ml and 750ml - and these will cost US$29.99 and US$49.99 respectively.

“This is a truly beautiful whiskey that we are sharing. I hope our fans really take the time to sip it slowly and responsibly because that's how we’ve intended it to be enjoyed.”
Tom Bulleit - Founder of Bulleit Bourbon.

Teeling Whiskey Co - First spirit bottled
The Teeling Whiskey Co, one of Ireland's leading independent whisky companies, has announded the release of the first spirit to be produced from its new Dublin distillery.  The distillery, which started production in March 2015, has already won multiple awards as a visitor attraction.  The new Spirit of Dublin Irish Poitín is triple distilled through copper por stills at the facility and is made using malted and unmalted barley. Poitín is famously known for its high alcoholic strength and the Teeling version has been bottled straight from the still at 52.5% ABV. It will be available at the distillery, in Dublin Airport and at selected other outlets in Ireland. A bottle will cost €35.

“Poitín is at the heart of all true Irish spirits and will be the base for future whiskey releases from our new distillery. This Spirit of Dublin bottling gives people a sneak peek at what our new distillery is producing as well as showcasing a modern version of our unique and traditional white Irish spirit.”
Jack Teeling - Founder of Teeling Whiskey Co.
